Paris Landing only 89 more to go

Paris Landing is 2.5 hours from our home.  Here is the link to the park http://tnstateparks.com/parks/about/paris-landing A close friend came with us who I will refer to as Lady M. We went there on March 13th-16th. It rained all day on Friday and we set up camp in the rain.

As you can tell we were soaked.

We decided to take the camper so we would have the extra room. Lady M wanted to sleep in a tent which was great because we had just gotten a new one and we got to try it out.

New tent from Goodwill!!

The new tent worked like a dream. First night we went tot he Lodge and ate because it never stopped raining. The food was excellent.

After the meal we all went to bed. We were exhausted and tired of being wet.

The next day we went to the 60 foot Eiffel Tower that they have in Paris.

Paris Landing

We were not able to do any hiking while we were at the park which was ok. We decided to take the short trip over to the Land Between the Lakes which I would recommend to anyone.

It was extremely foggy that day.

We started at the farthest end of LBL and worked our way back. They have a great Nature Center and the people who work there are extremely nice and knowledgeable.

HELLO!

Me and Lady M.

The second stop that we went to was the Planetarium. It told the story of LBL which is a very interesting one.

No truer words have ever been spoken.

After the planetarium we drove a little more and went to the Home Place. They stop selling tickets at 4:00 and it was 10 minutes after so, we left and went back to camp. It finally stopped raining long enough for us to build a fire and to cook a little camp fire dinner.

Man I wish that kid would stop growing.

Did I mention how muddy it was? I keep referring to this camping trip as mud camping. It was everywhere.

Me and the hubs.

The next day we decided to try it again at the Home Place at LBL. I was very interested in the museum.  But, before we left I had to have a few photos.

We left around 11:00 to go back to LBL. We wanted to spend another day just because it was the first day where the weather was PERFECT. We all enjoyed the Home Place very much. I could have spent an entire day there.

We stayed there for about 3 hours.  Like I said, I could have stayed there all day.
We then made our way back home. Since the weather was now beautiful I wasn't prepared to go.

The camping dog was, he was very ready to go.

All in all it was a great trip other than the mud.

Henry Horton State Park only 88 more to go

Henry Horton was about 3 1/2 hours from the house. Here is their link http://tnstateparks.com/parks/about/henry-horton We decided to backpack it. On this trip the hubs, the camping dog and the 4 year old went. We had to hike 2 miles to get to our camping spot and since this was the first time that we had ever been backpacking we packed to much shit...of course we did. I expected it. I am glad that it happened on the 2 short miles and not the 40 miles that the hubs and I want to do but that is a different story for another day. The weather was perfect.

We always take a goofy on the road picture.

Here is the tent.

Here is the 4 year old resting after the 2 mile hike. Not quite sure why he was so tired. I had to carry his backpack half way. I think I may have packed it a little too heavy, live and learn.  Yes, the 4 year old blends in with the leaves.

Even the camping dog was tired.

The site was full of beautiful nature.

Moss beds were everywhere.

Heart or horse butt?

Looks like a sea creature to me.

The hubs working on building a fire. This is one of his camping jobs.

Can't get any better than this.

The next morning we packed up our gear and headed back down the to the car. We slowly headed back down the car. We really enjoyed the view.

We were only there for one night. I would have liked to have stayed longer. The trails looked like really nice and well maintained. I appreciate a maintained trail.

This tree has nose holes.

This is a look out. Great view and not too high so I had no problem going up to the top.

It was a great overnight trip and I could have stayed there for several days.
