Henry Horton State Park only 88 more to go

Henry Horton was about 3 1/2 hours from the house. Here is their link http://tnstateparks.com/parks/about/henry-horton We decided to backpack it. On this trip the hubs, the camping dog and the 4 year old went. We had to hike 2 miles to get to our camping spot and since this was the first time that we had ever been backpacking we packed to much shit...of course we did. I expected it. I am glad that it happened on the 2 short miles and not the 40 miles that the hubs and I want to do but that is a different story for another day. The weather was perfect.

We always take a goofy on the road picture.

Here is the tent.

Here is the 4 year old resting after the 2 mile hike. Not quite sure why he was so tired. I had to carry his backpack half way. I think I may have packed it a little too heavy, live and learn.  Yes, the 4 year old blends in with the leaves.

Even the camping dog was tired.

The site was full of beautiful nature.

Moss beds were everywhere.

Heart or horse butt?

Looks like a sea creature to me.

The hubs working on building a fire. This is one of his camping jobs.

Can't get any better than this.

The next morning we packed up our gear and headed back down the to the car. We slowly headed back down the car. We really enjoyed the view.

We were only there for one night. I would have liked to have stayed longer. The trails looked like really nice and well maintained. I appreciate a maintained trail.

This tree has nose holes.

This is a look out. Great view and not too high so I had no problem going up to the top.

It was a great overnight trip and I could have stayed there for several days.
